Our Mission

In a society where increasingly we are defined by access to information and what we earn is what we learn, if you don’t have access to technology, you’re going to be left in the digital dark ages. That’s what the digital divide is all about.
William E. Kennard, Chairman, United States Federal Communications Commission (1997-2001)

“Electronic waste (e-waste) is considered the fastest growing waste stream in the developed world. The waste is the result of advancing technology that leaves behind old computers, laptops, televisions, and other electronic devices that require specialized methods of recycling because of toxic by-products. A major concern regarding end-of-life products (EOL) is environmental contamination and seepage into the food chain. The high expense of recycling responsibly has made e-waste an expensive venture for industrialized countries. As a result, the burden of recycling has been transferred to the developing world, where environmental protection is lax and the necessary technologies to safely extract material do not exist. Stockpiles of high-tech trash are open to the public for scavenging by low-income families and their children. The result is environmental contamination and negative health effects.”
V. Dissanayake, in Encyclopedia of Toxicology (Third Edition), 2014

Our Tech For Charities mission is to provide information and communication technology to underserved families in our local community, while reducing the amount of e-waste entering the international waste stream.

To accomplish our mission we accept donations of computers and electronics and repurpose them for distribution to other nonprofits serving the local community or directly to those in need.
